“I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35)
In Phoenix this time of year is almost perfect for harvesting cotton. A few months ago these plants were tiny green sprouts which were indistinguishable from weeds. But as the summer progressed, so did the cotton plants: first the leaves grew, then the sprout became a bush, and now soft white tufts peek through the dried foliage. Picking last month would have yielded nothing; picking next month would result in crops too dead to be used. Now the crop has grown and produced its fruit. Not is the time to pick. What good is it if we seed and water but withhold the service of harvesting? Let us be laborers for the Kingdom while the time is right.
List some things made with cotton – it’s pretty useful! God can weave the fabric of a harvested life into a miracle covering of grace!
