“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:14)
The world yearned for a Savior just as expectant parents yearn for the day they hold their long awaited child. We can empathize with that yearning because our souls still long for light in a dark, confused world. Our heart’s eyes constantly seek to see through the opaque walls of an existence filled with anxiety, selfishness, and despair.
And here is the beauty of Bethlehem: the light which shone over the manger that night, the song which illuminated the hearts of the shepherds, the brilliance which led the wise men – all of that radiant glory of God is present still today because He still longs to be our Savior. His light is not a tiny flickering candle, but a holy bonfire of love beckoning to the searching heart even on the darkest nights. Glory to God!
Read aloud or sing “O Holy Night” and let your Christmas be filled with the warmth of His light shining in your hearts.
